Staffordshire Support Group

Welcome to the Staffordshire Support Group of the MND Association!

We offer support to all those in the area who are affected by Motor Neurone Disease: people living with MND, their carers, partners, relatives and friends - in fact anyone who has been touched by the disease in some way.

wpcac495b7_0f.jpg MND is an incurable condition that paralyses the muscles leaving people unable to do the everyday things the rest of us take for granted. Walking, talking and swallowing may become virtually impossible, yet the mind and senses usually remain intact.

We liaise with health and social care professionals such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and the Medical Profession.

We provide practical support through our trained Association Visitors who keep in regular contact by telephoning and/or visiting people in their homes.

We also hold support meetings which we call Get-Togethers. These are very informal and light-hearted, some in garden centres and others with a variety of speakers. Both provide an opportunity for people with MND and their carers to meet with others in the same situation. All supporters are welcome, including Health & Social Care Professionals. Details of the meetings are published in our Newsletter and on the
Events page.

The Staffordshire Support Group is completely run by volunteers. We are always interested in hearing from people who can help with events or who want to get involved with running the Support Group.

For information about the work of the Association, and up to date information regarding the disease, care and research, please visit the National Office website at www.mndassociation.org
