Staffordshire Support Group
The MND Association

The Staffordshire Support Group of the MND Association offers support to all those in the area who are affected by Motor Neurone Disease. This also includes carers, partners, relatives and friends, in fact, anyone who has been touched in some way by the disease.

MND is an incurable condition that paralyses the muscles leaving people unable to do the everyday things the rest of us take for granted. Walking, talking and swallowing may become virtually impossible, yet the mind and senses usually remain intact.

We liaise with health and social care professionals such as Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists and the Medical Profession.

We provide practical support through our trained Association Visitors who keep in regular contact by telephoning and/or visiting people in their homes.

We also hold support meetings which we call Get-Togethers. These are very informal and light hearted, with a variety of speakers and provide an opportunity for people with MND and their carers to meet with others in the same situation. Details of the meetings are published in our Newsletter and on the Events page.

The Staffordshire Support Group is completely run by volunteers. We are always interested in hearing from people who can help with events or who want to get involved with running the Support Group.
