Mia wrote to the club asking the MND Association to be considered as the nominated charity. At the time, her uncle, Steve Collins was still with us and as she visited him regularly, she knew what he was going through. In the letter she put that her great uncle Steve was no longer able to speak, eat, drink or use his hands and that she missed playing with him.

Just weeks after she wrote the letter Steve passed away.  One week after his death the club had announced that they had selected the MND Association as their charity for this year. Val Collins, Mia's aunty, was asked to attend an awards evening and speak to the club members and their families about Steve and the way that MND had affected both him and the family. 

Val's youngest son, Peter, has just returned from the MND Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu, more information coming soon.
